Makeup Haul- Drugstore

The drugstore seems to be upping its game lately and i have been on a makeup buying ban. I somehow seem to enter the drugstore and come out with a big dent in my bank account, this being said, I always seem to come out with a smile on my face too. As I have not bought anything lately, I am a tad behind with the new releases and thought it was time to update my makeup collection.

First of all I purchased the brand new foundation from Rimmel. Drugstore makeup brands seem to have been lacking in new foundations lately so as soon as I set my eyes on this, I definitely had to put it to the test. This foundation is named 'Fresher Skin' and claims to let skin breathe and to not clog pores which sounds amazing to me. The only issue which I considered when buying this was that it was going to have no coverage at all. A quality in a foundation which I look for is to have atleast medium coverage! I have wore this foundation a good 5 or 6 times now and I feel as if I can firmly say that it is a lovely foundation. Surprisingly, it gives a medium coverage and feels so light on the skin. I have wore this all day for each day I have wore it and it has lasted for the majority of the day without coming off in patches like most.

The next product was the Bourjois, Radiance Reveal concealer. I originally purchased this as a temporary replacement of the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer. I had heard amazing reviews on this product a while ago but I could never seem to find my shade (obviously being the lightest possible one). After months of waiting, Superdrug had finally stocked them. This concealer is medium to high coverage which is perfect as i have the worst dark circles under my eyes. The creamy consistency of this makes it so easy to blend out and I will honestly repurchase this now over high end concealers.

In all honestly, I bought the L'Oreal infallible sculpt thinking it was a powder contour but I've later found out that the powder version is only available in America! I already have a cream contour which is from the brand Iconic London. Although I love this contour, I find it time consuming and always reach to a powder contour for the convenience. I find that the L'Oreal contour is a lovely shade but does not blend out as well as I would like and I find that I have to put a lot of work in to it when applying it.

Finally I purchased the NYX soft matte lip cream in the shade London. I have used the lingerie liquid lipstick by NYX before and absolutely love how it looks and feels. I also found that it lasted for an amazing length of time. I had heard amazing things about the original soft matte lip creams so thought it was about time i purchased one. I love the colour of this lipstick and the colour range in general. Another thing I love is the texture of them because they are just so creamy and moisturising. As they are so creamy, they do not last as long as the lingerie liquid lips which is something I really look for in a lipstick so if you're going for a meal or something along those lines then I would not recommend it.

Rimmel- Lasting Finish Primer

This primer was definitely a random, spontaneous buy. I really under-estimated how good the quality of this product would be and for some time of trying it, I thought it wasn't as good as I think now. The texture of this is like a thick, creamy moisturiser; almost like Sudocrem. It gives your makeup a sticky base to cling on to and really does the job of keeping it in place all day long. According to Rimmel, this primer makes your makeup last for up to 8 hours after use and I would definitely agree with this statement . Another thing I would say is that it really re-hydrates my skin throughout the day and ensures that my foundation does not stick to my dry patches!

Let me know if you have tried this primer or if you have any recommendations for me!

L'Oreal True Match Highlighter

First of all, I'd like to explain why I haven't been posting a lot lately! I have been extremely busy with college and work and not had any time for blog posts what so ever. I will be trying to post at least once a week but hopefully more if i can!

Now for the review! I heard that L'Oreal had brought out highlighters which fit different skin tones which I was so excited for because I am always looking for a gorgeous highlight which looks amazing on fair skin. The shade I picked up was obviously the lightest one but I'm not exactly sure what the shade is called. It is built up of 3 different shades of white pink and icy blue which I thought was interesting. I tend to mix all 3 shades together (which is what I think you're meant to do) and apply it to my cheekbones and the tip of my nose and I absolutely love it! This is literally the brightest highlighter and is basically white which is amazing on my skin because it shows up incredibly. I would recommend this to anyone with pale skin and I am sure that the other shades for other skin tones are just as good.

Let me know if you have tried one of these highlighters!

Benefit- 3D Browtones

Since Benefit have done their new brow collection- I have been seriously up for buying every single product but my bank balance definitely can't handle that! This one was the one which struck my eye in particular. I take pride in my eyebrows and anything which will make them look better, I am willing to invest in. This product is essentially highlights for your eyebrows!

First of all, i love the packaging of this! I really love the whole brow collections packaging, it looks so professional. I love how everything is in a silver packaging and is so sleek. This packaging in particular I love, I love the top bit too it and think it definitely stands out.

I think I expected this to be a bit more extreme than it is. I expected it to be extremely shimmery and obvious to the eye but it really isn't. Although this product isn't what I expected, I do still like it. It gives colour to it but not too much (definitely buildable) and gives a gorgeous subtle shimmer which you can tell. In all honestly, I don't think that this product is absolutely necessary but if you are a big brow lover like me then it is something which will enhance your brow experience and is definitely a lovely product!

Have you tried any of these Benefit brow products, let me know your thoughts!

Anastasia Beverly Hills- Modern Renaissance Palette

This palette has been raved about since the day it came out! Everyone and their dog has this palette and I feel like I have been very late on the bandwagon. In all honesty, the only products i have ever used from ABH are the brow wiz's and the dip brow so I really didn't know what to expect from this eyeshadow palette.

Since purchasing this palette, I honestly think I have used it everyday. From looking at it, you may think that it looks a bit scary with all the pinks and reds going on but it really isn't. You can create such a natural look with this that still looks stunning. I like to use the top left shade all over as a base and use the 4th shade in called 'buon fresco' in the crease and blend it out. I honestly think it creates such a natural simple look but looks stunning because it is a light purple shade. I have created so many looks with this palette and think it is so diverse.

I love the formula of these shadows so much, they really do blend out amazingly! I love how buttery they are and how smoothly they glide on to the lid. The price is a little steep (around £41) but I really think that it is worth it if you're willing to spend a little more or if you wear eyeshadow all the time and will make the most out of your money.

Superdrug- Naturally Radiant Skincare Collection

I've recently been looking for some new skincare because my skin isn't co-operating at all. Every product I seem to try out works for a month or too and then stops so I always have to change up my skincare regime. I've been really in to cleansers lately and love them for getting the last bit of my makeup off and really clearing my skin of every last bit. I love my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish (which I did a blog post about) and wanted something similar and this Superdrug home hot cloth cleanser seemed like a good match.

I tend to be in a rush to get in bed most nights and like my skincare regime to be as quick as possible! I start off by taking off my makeup with the Garnier Micellar Water which I have loved for a ridiculously long time now. This micellar water takes off the majority of my makeup but I always feel like there is a little bit of makeup left on my face. I then go ahead and put warm water all over my face and then rub some of the cleanser all over my face and massage it in. The cleanser actually comes with a cloth to wipe off the cleanser, so I go ahead and soak the cloth in hot water before gently wiping it all over my face. You can see how much makeup gets left on your face by the colour of the cloth after. I really do feel like this cleanser really gives my skin a deep clean. I also feel like my face is extremely soft after using both the cleanser and the serum.

The Serum and Moisturiser is a 2 in 1 which I love because I am always looking for a quick way to make sure my skin is getting its daily routine. I really love the texture of this product and how it feels like it melts into your skin. Unlike other moisturisers, it does not feel greasy at all and I really feel like it smooths out my skin.

Have you tried these products or have any skincare suggestions?

Becca- Shimmering Skin Perfector- Champagne Pop

I have always had a bit of a love affair with highlighters and have quite the collection so when I was planning my trip to NYC, the first thing I thought of was this little highlighter which I have been wishing for, for quite some time now. I have seen Jaclyn use this highlighter on her videos and it always looks so stunning that I couldn't not try it out. I tend to go for more cold undertones like The Balm- Mary Loumanizer which I love but I had heard that this tone sits well with all skin tones!

The colour of this is definitely a champagne colour with pink, warm undertones which actually worried me a little because I just presumed that this kind of shade would suit darker skin tones which I definitely do not have! I have purchased highlighters before which have looked so cakey on my skin and enhanced my pores by a crazy amount but this highlighter definitely does not do that! The formula is so finely milled that it looks so natural on your skin and blends in amazingly. The consistency is so creamy and almost has a cream to powder texture, it just glides on your skin so effortlessly. As for the colour, I really do believe that this will suit absolutely anyone and still look stunning!

Let me know if you have tried this highlighter and what you think about it X

Kat Von D- Shade & Light Palette

I ALWAYS struggle with finding the perfect contour shade because everything just seems to look orange and muddy on my skin so I thought a palette like this where it has different tones in would suit me. I love how you get so many different shades in this palette and I also love how you get powder options for under your eyes to highlight with. Overall I think this palette is such a good concept and I actually really love the packaging aswell. I love how its actually really simple but the only thing I would say is that I struggle to read the font on the front!

Please excuse the mess of the palette as I have been using it for a good 3 weeks now. I definitely wanted to make sure that I 100% knew I loved this palette before writing a post about it so i could give an honest review. I tend to go for the contour shade on the far left as it is the one most suited to my fair skintone. If i was going for a moe bronzy look, I would go for the centre shade as it is more warm toned. I like to use the top left shade to highlight under my eyes with as it really brightens them and lifts the face. The only thing I would say about this palette is that it is ridiculously pigmented so you really do need the littlest product or it will look like a line of mud on your face! Overall, I think this palette is incredible and definitely worth the money because this will last me forever!

Let me know contouring palettes you recommend in the comments!

Tartlette- In Bloom Palette

I feel like I have been rather late to the party with this palette but I am certain it was worth the wait. I've actually had this for around a month now but I wanted to wait until I new I loved it to give you a review. I also wanted to make sure I used all the colours to give you a completely honest review. Before this palette, I had never used any of Tarte's products but after using this palette, I will definitely be buying some more.

First of all, I think the packaging of this is stunning! The design on the front of the palette is gorgeous with all the different colours that really complement each other. I also love how the gold font on the front matches the interior design. I really think this packaging looks like it would cost more than it does. As for the colours in this palette, I think they are really natural and muted which I have been loving lately. I love the red shades because they really bring out the blue in my eyes. Another thing I love is the shimmer shades, I particularly love the gold shimmer called 'funny girl' which I like to layer over other colours.

The formula of these eyeshadows are gorgeous, they are so buttery and blend out amazingly. These shadows really don't need that much blending because of how creamy they are. The pigment of them is also amazing but this means that they do have alot of fall-out so I would recommend doing your eyeshadow before your face makeup.

Have any of you tried this palette? Let me know your thoughts in the comments x

NYX Butter Glosses

I have had these butter glosses for a while now after giving into the hype but I actually haven't properly used them yet so I thought I would give them a go so I could give you a review about them. So I got 3 shades, (from the left to the right(-Maple Blondie, Meringue,Strawberry Parfait). I went for more pink colours as I thought these would look nicer with gloss. I'm not actually a big gloss lover but I do think that pink colours can look nice glossy. My favourite colour is Strawberry Parfait which is a medium pink shade and looks really nice but not too overpowering.

As for formula, I think the texture of these is really nice and actually feels moisturising on the lips. I find that they have quite a sheer coverage and that you need to wear a lipliner underneath if you want a bit more colour. I wore one of these all day at college and found that even with only just drinking water occasionally, it was wiping off really easily. I find that I have to re-apply this more than I would like. This is definitely the only bad thing that I would say about these glosses because they are really good for the price you pay which I think is around £5.

Have you tried these glosses, are your opinions different to mine?

Favourite Eyeshadow Brushes

I am very, very picky on which brushes I apply my eyeshadow with which is why I thought I would let you know what my top 5 favourites are. I can't stand my eyeshadow not being blended so I need a really soft blending brush to do the job (or 5). I also need brushes to pack eyeshadow on- because who doesn't love packing on glitter to your lids? All of these brushes are reasonably priced and amazing quality so I really would recommend them.

Zoeva- 227 Soft Definer
This brush is really nice for applying the base colours to your lid! Seems like such a boring reason to have a brush but it is definitely necessary. This brush is incredibly soft and applies colours to your lid seamlessly. I wouldn't recommend using this to pack product on but for all over lid colours it is perfect!

Morphe- MB23
This is my favourite brush for blending everything out. It is larger than normal so it blends the edges out amazingly. I normally use this after applying product to my crease to just soften the edges and I haven't found a brush which is better at doing that than this. This brush was so, so cheap and for the quality I really would say it is a staple.

Spectrum- B06
I use this brush for applying product to my crease and outer third. I absolutely love the design of this brush and think it is absolutely gorgeous. The size of this product means that it is perfect to fit right in the crease but the fluffiness of it means that it applies seamlessly and doesn't just pack the product on the lid.

Morphe- G14
This brush is a recent purchase of mine and also a new find. I have been using Morphe brushes for ages but I haven't used the gun metal brushes before and I love how professional they are and how sturdy they feel! I normally use this brush for applying glitter all over the lid as it packs the product on and reduces the fall out so much because of how dense it is.

Morphe- B70
The final brush in my favourites collection is this Morphe brush. This brush is actually quite big which is why I love it for applying a colour all over the lid. This brush is dense so it makes the colour more pigmented rather than the first brush I talked about which will give more of a sheer coverage for more of a base I really like this brush and think it is amazing for the price just like all the others I have talked about.

Have you tried any of these? What are your favourite brushes?

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Natural

I have tried so many new powders lately which is weird considering I really wasn't into them before this month. I always saw powders as the same and never had one which I 'loved'. Over the past month I have found 3 powders that I actually really love! I have tried the MAC studio fix powder which I love for its high coverage and the Hourglass ambient lighting powder which I actually find similar to this. With the Hourglass powder, I find it has no colour to it and just gives a glow but this one has a little colour to it.

I got mine in the shade Light Plus which was the second lightest shade and it is a perfect match. This powder really makes my skin glowy and gives such a natural radiant look to the skin. You don't have to use a lot of this which is great because it means it will last a lot longer. Considering this powder was around the £23 mark, I think the product itself is worth the price. I also finds that it makes my makeup last for so long- I would recommend maybe topping it up if you have oily skin but if you have dry skin like me then it lasts all day long.

Have you tried this powder? What are your thoughts?

Purchase Regret- Maybelline Instant Age Rewind FOUNDATION

As I live in the UK, I actually can't get this foundation! But as I was going to NYC, I thought i'd make the most of my opportunity and give it a go. I have tried the concealer version of this product and I absolutely loved it- I just want to point out that I am in no way trying to shame the brand because I love Maybelline products in general but with all brands, there is always some products you may dislike. I thought I would give this foundation a go because I love the coverage of the concealer version and I loved the shade range for my skin-tone.

I got mine in the shade Buff- Beige which was actually one of the lightest shades but was still a little too dark. I thought I'd be able to work with the shade and just make sure I blend it round my neck but this was definitely not the case! The colour of this looked ridiculously red on my face and made me look so stupid- I literally had to take the foundation off and apply a different one. All of the shades didn't seem to have a yellow under-tone to it so I didn't really have a choice with it. The applicator seems to soak up too much of the product and doesn't apply it nicely onto the face, so if you do actually like this foundation, I would maybe recommend taking the lid off. As far as the formula goes, I think it is difficult to blend out as it dries quickly and you have to work very quick. I also finds that it goes patchy on my skin and doesn't give amazing coverage.

Overall, I really wouldn't recommend this product but if you want to give it a go, maybe you will like it? As I said, I am in no way shaming Maybelline as I love other products by them but this product is definitely not for me! Let me know if you have tried this product and your thoughts?

August Favourites

This month has definitely been the month for new makeup! Since I turned 18 this month, I went to NYC with my Mum to celebrate. Obvcourse NYC is the place to be to buy alot of things! I may have gone a little mad in Sephora buying a ridiculous amount of makeup so narrowing down my favourites this month was a little difficult. Obviously my first favourite was my trip to New York and which I have actually done a post on if you want to check that out.

My first favourite is this makeup brush by the brand Spectrum. I absolutely love this brand and the design of their brushes! I ave a few of them now by them and I love all of them, they are a similar price to Morphe brushes so they are really cheap for what you get. This brush is the C03 one and as it has a pointed tip, it is great for getting powder right under your eyes and generally all around your face. I have really been loving this brush for powder.

My next favourite is the Beauty Blender Cleanser- Solid Cleanse. I have always struggled with cleaning brushes and always found nothing will fully clean them properly and that they always take ages to clean. This cleanser is a solid so you swirl your brush around in it and then massage the brush with your fingers and it really cleans them quickly and gets everything out of them.

The next one is the Becca Highlighter in Champagne Pop by Jaclyn Hill. I think every makeup lover has wanted this highlighter at some point and I can definitely see why. This highlighter is stunning and definitely my new favourite. It has the most gorgeous finish to it and doesn't look too un-natural. I love the champagne under-tones to this and it even suits my pale skin.

The next favourite is the Tartlette 'In Bloom' palette. I have been really loving this palette lately for all different types of looks. You really can achieve so many different looks with this- from daytime to night it is absolutely stunning. The formula of these eyeshadows are stunning and so buttery. I also like how it has a range of mattes and shimmers. The packaging is also really sleek and it has a big mirror which is great!.

My final favourite is the Too Faced Better Than Sex masara which I have done a post about! This just really makes your lashes look incredible. The colour of this is so black so it makes your eyes really pop. You definitely could replace wearing false lashes with this mascara because it just really makes them look so thick and long. It is amazing!

What are your favourites this month?

Hourglass- Ambient Lighting Powder

I have heard amazing reviews about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders and was so excited to get my hands on one! The only problem was the really steep price tag! This product over here in the UK is a ridiculous £40 from Space NK. I could never bring myself to buy this purely for this factor. The reviews i have heard have always been amazing so I thought I would splash out when I went to New York! All the makeup in NYC is normally cheaper than here in the UK so I gathered it would make more sense buying it over there with the spending money I had been saving up for the longest time!
First of all I was going to get the trio of the lighting powder as it had a range of highlighters and powders that you could use all over your face but after buying Jaclyn Hills 'Champagne Pop', I decided to just buy the lighting powder on its own. You get alot of product in the pan which kind of makes it a little less painful to splash out on. I honestly don't think this will be running out on me anytime soon!

When I first got this product, I heard it was similar to the Mac Mineralise Skin Finish in Natural which I absolutely love! I got mine in the shade 'Etheral Light' which is the lightest shade I think so it is perfect for my pale skin. I apply this with a big fluffy powder brush. I particularly like the Morphe E2 brush for applying this. I apply it all over my face to give a really glowy look and it really does look stunning. This powder makes you look really naturally radiant, as if it is your normal skin! I find that this powder really does set my foundation in place all day and that I don't have to touch it up! In all honesty, I'm not entirely sure if it is worth the £40 price tag but it is a really nice powder if you do want to treat yourself.

Have you tried this powder, what are your thoughts?

My Pandora Bracelet- charm meanings

I recently received a Pandora bracelet for my 18th birthday which I was so excited about! I see so many blog posts about peoples bracelets and the charms on them. Alot of peoples charms also have meaning to them and I love to read about that, so I thought I's share with you the meanings that all of mine give.

When I received this bracelet, I also received the swan charm on the very left for obvious reasons. This charm has cubic zirconia stones in it which makes it look stunning! The next charm to the right of the swan is a charm which I received off my brother for my 18th. This is a pendant charm which I love because it adds some diversity to the charms and is different compared to the others. On the pendant, it says 'sweet sister' on which is really lovely. The next charm I actually bought myself from New York. This is the Disney castle which I absolutely love because I am a massive Disney enthusiast!

The heart lock with the key attached I received off my boyfriend for my 18th again. I think this charm is super cute and has alot of meaning to it. The primrose next to it is actually a clip-not a charm. This is to stop the charms from siding everywhere but I really like how it adds bit of colour to the bracelet. The next charm is a shell which I actually purchased because my favourite film is The Little Mermaid. This has cubic zirconia stones in again just like the swan which makes it look stunning. The final charm in my collection is my NYC apple charm. I bought this in New York as something to remember it by. This apple says NYC on the front of it and has a gold detail for the leaves on the top of it. I really love this charm as it reminds me of the amazing holiday I had.

Have you got a Pandora bracelet? What charms have you got?

Sephora Face & Feet: Sheet Masks

These were one of the products that I had on my Sephora 'wanted' list for the longest time. I have heard the most amazing things about these products- especially the face masks but I thought I would give the feet mask a whirl aswell. I'm always looking for new skincare products to make my face soft and hydrated and this face-mask sounded like the perfect thing. It says on the pack that it is 'ultra-moisturising and hydrating' and I would agree with this statement.

When you open up the sachet, the sheet mask is attached to another sheet which is soaked in the liquid. You then peel the sheet mask off to apply it to your face. There are holes for your eyes, nose and mouth so you can obviously breathe! The instructions then say to leave it on for around 10 minutes from what I can remember and then you peel it off. I would recommend getting into a comfy spot and lying down to keep the mask in place on your face. You could do this mask as part of a beauty night along with the foot mask and really pamper yourself. The face mask really does leave your face feeling plump and smooth. I would also say it refreshes your skin and makes you feel alot more clean.

The foot mask also does a similar thing. The packaging says that this mask is 'refreshing and relaxing' which is so true in my opinion. It leaves your feet feeling refreshed and so soft. I struggle with rough skin on my feet and this definitely smoothed my skin out and left them feeling amazing! You're probably thinking 'how do you have a mask for feet', well they come as little boot shaped bags that you put your feet in and then leave them on for 15 minutes. They actually eel really nice and refreshing and great for a pamper night when you just want to sit back and relax!

Have you tried these? Let me know your thoughts!

Urban Decay- All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

I have heard so many amazing comments about this product and have never thought it was worth the price tag for a setting spray. When shopping in Sephora, I was drawn in by the minis at the checkouts just like every other person is. It is so difficult to resist mini versions of makeup products, I just love how small they are. One of the minis was this All Nighter setting spray which I could never bring myself to purchase a full version, so this was the perfect opportunity for me.

So for half the price, I thought I would test out a smaller version in the hope that I would love it.. and I definitely do! This setting spray definitely is worth the hype and the money. Throughout the day, my makeup tends to rub off and become all patchy and I have never seemed to find anything to help prevent this. This setting spray is absolutely amazing and really does keep my makeup in place and really does do what it says on the bottle, I think this product is absolutely amazing.

Have you tried this product before? What are your thoughts?

Too Faced- Better Than Sex Mascara

Lets start off by making a rather large statement- ' This is my new favourite mascara'. I have been trying so many different mascaras for about 5 years now and I have never came across one I love as much as this. I bought this in New York for $23 which is around £24 which I class as rather expensive for a mascara! Saying this, I really do think it is worth it if you're looking for something to splurge out on.

This mascara makes your lashes so thick and long. It really does make your lashes look amazing. I wouldn't recommend this if you're looking for a natural look as it gives a more extreme darker, intense eye. I like a more intense look even in the daytime so this really is a perfect mascara for me. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an intense evening look but is willing to pay a little more than usual.

Have you tried this mascara or any others that you can recommend?

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation

When shopping in New York, the one item that was the top of my makeup list was this Makeup Forever HD stick foundation. This cost me $43 which was about £33. I got mine in the shade R230 which is the most perfect shade for my skin! I always struggle finding the perfect shade as my skin is quite red tone and also rather pale but this is just the most perfect shade for me which I love!

A little product really does go a long way for this foundation. I tend to put a swipe on each cheek and my forehead and it is plenty of product to cover my whole face. As this is a stick formula, I honestly thought that it would be difficult to blend out and that you would have to work with it quickly but that is not the case at all. This is one of the most creamiest foundations I own and it blends out like a dream! I would say this foundation is medium coverage but definitely buildable. I would recommend this foundation to absolutely everyone and I really do think it is worth the money.

Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts?
